11 January 2012 No Comment

For many people the prospect of living and working in the USA is a lucrative and prosperous one especially if the country that they are moving from is underdeveloped or suffering from economic or political hardship. How do you get a Green Card however so that you can become a permanent resident of the United States of America?

You can be eligible for a green card is a member of your family is already a permanent resident or a native of the United States and this includes spouses, parents and even step-parents as well. However, one of the main ways in which people gain entry to the United States is through their employment. If the applicant can prove that they work in an industry that is in need of workers or that they hold a profession that is highly sought after or can significantly add to the economy then these immigrants are more than likely going to be approved for permanent residence.

That being said, a great number of people legally gain entry through the green card lottery. This was a system that was established to allow residents from countries that have not enjoyed a substantial rate of immigration to the states the chance to gain permanent residence providing that the meet two criteria namely that they come from an eligible country and that they can also prove they have a set standard level of education and will be able to find work due to their profession. Essentially, these are the two main ways that people are able to legally enter the Uniter States and live there on a permanent basis and even though a visa to the country is highly sought after by many people you should not have too many problems if you meet the desired criteria for selection.
